Suffolk Open

Since 2009 the Suffolk Open has been the Suffolk Volleyball Association's annual outdoor tournament, usually held on a Sunday in June or July at Chilton Fields in Stowmarket, the home of Stowmarket Rugby Club.

In 2021 our clubs are focussing on return to play in a COVID-safe manner.  Clubs can organise friendlies between each other to get back into a competitive spirit ahead of the indoor season. If you'd like to help with this or with organising future tournaments, please contact our chairman.

Info from 2019:

The tournament has two divisions (one for National / Regional / top-level local league men's teams and the other for mixed and recreational teams), it is one of the biggest one-day tournaments in the country, attracting entrants from across the Eastern Region and beyond.

The 2019 tournament will be held on Sunday the 1st of September, details are available here. Registration will be at 10am and we will aim to finish the final matches between 4 and 5pm.  The deadline for entries is Sunday the 25th of August.  The entry form is available here. Unlike in previous years, junior rugby will be happening at the venue at the same time. We'll therefore be on a football pitch behind the clubhouse.  The rugby will be occupying all changing rooms until 3:30pm.  Players are therefore asked to arrive in their playing kit. Showers will be available from around 3:30pm.  Toilets will be available all day.
